Google made Google Gemini publicly available in December 2023 as a counter to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. At the Google I/O event a few months ago, the company announced the new Android 15 operating system and Gemini 1.5 Flash and 1.5 Pro at the event held on 14-16 May 2024. Google recently announced that Gemini 1.5 Flash is now free.
Google Gemini 1.5 Flash is now free
Google used the phrases “the fastest and most versatile multimodal AI model with an emphasis on low latency and cost” when introducing Gemini 1.5 Flash at I/O 2024. When Google first announced Gemini 1.5 Flash, it stated that the new version is many times more powerful than 1.0 Pro, while the first version can process 8k tokens at the same time, Gemini 1.5 Flash can process 32k tokens at the same time. Therefore, the new version stands out as faster and less costly.
Google’s upgrade of the currently free version of Gemini to 1.5 Flash will now allow users who are not using Gemini Advenced to access Gemini 1.5 Flash, while users using the free version will be able to access many features of Gemini 1.5 Flash. The company uses Gemini 1.5 Pro in Gemini Advenced, its paid plan. While Gemini 1.5 includes basic features, the more stable pro version is more advanced, customisable and provides more accurate information in research.
Google also recently announced that it will integrate Gemini into its Messages app. While the AI-integrated messages application is slowly spreading within the European Union, it currently supports languages such as French, Polish and Spanish. The Gemini app will soon be available in Czechia, Hungary, Israel, Kenya, Romania, Serbia, Suriname, Tanzania, Ukraine, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Eritrea.
